At the end of the Cassiar Highway, there is a road to get over to the Whistler Ski Resert area and on to Vancouver. The "Sea to Skyway" Highway was a complete and unexpectd surprise for us. The winding road opened up to an amazing and unique landscape with huge farm fields hanging on the sides of cliffs over a river canyon. It was hard to believe what we were seeing.
The little town of Lillooet was across the bridge, and we could see the old bridge from a distance. What I thought was going to be just one of many bridge photo ops turned out to be a encounter with a huge bird family. We were lucky to see the entire family of ospreys having dinner. We could see the dad bird fishing in the river and he even delivered a huge fish while we watched. REALLY amazing!
And then...... ooops! I led us to a crazy drive through an area with landslides and 15% grades. That was absolutely the steepest road of our entire trip. No problem! Our little rig performed perfectly. We did watch an SUV driver that insisted on passing us on the yellow line end up in the run away truck ramp with smoking brakes. Ha! Just glad everyone was ok.
