Back to all Alaska or Bust!

We just couldn't stage this adventure without including some sort of ferry ride. We aren't crazy about boating, but secretly just wanted to see our little rig loaded into a cargo hold! So, we made our way into Horseshoe Bay and took the next ferry to Nanaimo. It was a nice two hour ride with clear skys and beautiful scenery, so what did we do? ...... went back down into the cargo hold and sat in our little rig. Pretty silly, but pretty cool!

Once off of the boat in Nainamo, we had to drive the 65 miles south to the BEAUTIFUL little city of Victoria. We should have just stopped there for the night. There were plenty of RV parks, and the area was great. But no...... we ended up taking the second ferry ride of the day from Victoria to Port Angeles, hours later than expected. This time it was heavy fog and choppy seas. Again we snuck down to the cargo hold, but this time it was creaking and rocking, and not so pleasant.

But hooray! We were now in Port Angeles, Washington and back on U.S. soil. We still had 60 miles to go to the Gig Harbor RV park. It was a very exhausting day for such a short distance covered.

Two lessons learned: Don't make reservations ahead of time unless you have a firm schedule, and if possible, stop for the day by 5:00 wherever you are.

That said, Gig Harbor was the perfect little Seattle area city. We spent two nights there resting up, and we had a really nice visit with my cousin Jenifer and her husband David.

Yes, we actually spent two nights in the same city!
