We left Mesa and went up over the rim to Holbrook, on up to the I40 and then east to Albuquerque. Thanks to a new GPS (very flawed) we wound up spending over an hour driving in downtown Santa Fe. NEVER take a motor home towing a trailer onto side streets. We determined that if we can drive the rigs there, we can maneuver them anywhere!
We spent the first night in Raton, New Mexico. The next day, instead of taking the I-25 North through Colorado, we went over to the 71 North following the old rail line through all of the old little towns, most abandoned or gone now. We spent the second night in Scotts Bluff, Nebraska. Then, on to Hill City, South Dakota and the Mt. Rushmore and Custer National Park area where we stayed 6 nights. WOW! There was so much to see, and we got in some great off roading.
